The Fourth of July is right around the corner, and Americans everywhere will be celebrating it in their own special way. As the lights dim on that night, and anticipation grows awaiting the fireworks display, you can almost imagine the sounds as they crackle through the air...
*POP* sssskkkkrrrrrr... (applause)
Oh, those aren't the sounds of people enjoying fireworks, they are the sounds of people enjoying a bottle of Oregon sparkling wine!
On this Fourth of July, consider picking up a bottle from your local wine shop or supermarket. Oregon wineries make some fantastic sparkling Méthode Champenoise wines, and at very affordable prices. These wines tend to be somewhat very dry (not sweet), so keep that in mind if you elect to purchase a bottle or two. Some Oregon sparkling wines are semi-sweet, which might be a little easier on your palate, especially if you will be serving it with a light meal.
If you want some additional wine activity, consider visiting an Oregon winery the following weekend. Many Oregon wineries will be closed this coming Wednesday (July 4) - but they should all be open again before and after.
Where ever you find yourself on the Fourth of July, take some time to celebrate with your friends, family, and loved ones. Enjoy yourself, enjoy some great Oregon wines - and above all else, do it safely.
Best regards,
David Anderson
